Internal mobility at IG Medical is more than just a policy—it’s a pathway to personal and professional growth. Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with Puja, who made a successful transition within the company. Here’s a closer look at her journey, the motivations behind her move, and the valuable insights she’s gained along the way.
When asked what motivated her to transition to her new role, Puja shared, “My motivation for transitioning to this new role stemmed from the alignment between my educational background and the responsibilities of the position. I found that the new role closely matched the areas I studied, and I was eager to apply my academic knowledge in a practical setting. The experience has been incredibly exciting so far, and I am immersed in learning a great deal about finance, which has been both challenging and rewarding.”
Reflecting on her previous position, Puja highlighted how it prepared her for her current role: “My previous position significantly prepared me for my current role by providing a deep understanding of how the healthcare sector operates. Over the course of eight months managing recruitment, I became well-acquainted with various positions and market rates. This experience allowed me to gain valuable insights into industry standards and trends. Additionally, handling client interactions and maintaining professional relationships taught me the importance of persistence and diplomacy. These skills have proven essential in my current role, where understanding market dynamics and effective communication are key to success.”
Transitioning to a new role often involves learning new skills and adapting to different responsibilities. Puja emphasised the growth she’s experienced, stating, “Since moving to my new role as a Credit Controller, I’ve significantly expanded my skill set. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of client management and the intricacies of credit control, which has enhanced my ability to navigate client relationships and manage accounts effectively. Additionally, I’ve been introduced to Power BI and Microsoft NAV, which have broadened my technical capabilities and improved my data analysis and reporting skills.”
Every transition comes with its own set of challenges, but for Puja, the process was notably smooth. “The internal transfer process was notably smooth, and I didn’t encounter significant challenges,” she noted. “The transition was facilitated by a very welcoming new team who played a crucial role in making the process seamless. They provided me with a comprehensive learning platform and guided me through the core aspects of the role.”
Our commitment to internal mobility and career growth was a significant factor in Puja’s successful transition. She praised the company’s approach, saying, “ICG Medical has a strong policy on internal movement that supports employees in aligning their roles with their skill sets and career aspirations. This policy enables employees to transition to positions that better match their skills and interests, fostering both personal and professional growth. The company’s approach to internal mobility ensures that employees have the opportunity to explore roles that fit their expertise and ambitions.”
For those considering a similar move, Puja offered some valuable advice: “For colleagues considering an internal transfer, my advice is to research the role, understand how it aligns with your skills and career goals, and connect with current team members for insights about the role and department. Assess your skills, address any gaps, and discuss your intentions with your manager.”
Moving into a new department has also broadened her perspective on the company’s operations and culture. “Since transitioning to my new role, my perspective on the company’s operations and culture has broadened. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the inner workings of different departments and how they interconnect, which has provided me with a more comprehensive view of the company’s overall strategy and objectives,” she explained.
Looking ahead, Puja sees her new role as a vital step toward her long-term career goals. “My new position aligns well with my long-term career goals by allowing me to deepen my expertise in finance. It provides opportunities to develop critical skills and knowledge that are essential for my career advancement. Additionally, the role offers a platform for growth and increased responsibility, which supports my aspirations for the financial analyst role.”
Contributing to the company’s mission is also at the forefront of her new role. “In my new role, I contribute to the company’s overall mission and objectives by managing credit effectively. By enhancing data analysis and streamlining processes, I support the company’s mission, ultimately helping to advance our strategic objectives and drive success.”
Ultimately, the most rewarding aspect of her internal transfer experience has been the growth and support she’s received along the way. “The most rewarding aspect of my internal transfer experience has been the opportunity to significantly expand my skills and knowledge in a new area. Transitioning to a role where I could apply and build upon my expertise has been fulfilling. Additionally, the support and positive interactions with my new team have made the adjustment smooth and gratifying, reinforcing my sense of growth and contribution within the company.”
Puja’s journey is a testament to the value of internal mobility, personal growth, and the importance of finding roles that align with one’s skills and aspirations within ICG Medical.
